The mother is deaf and unable to speak and is unable to work because of taking care of her sick husband. علی در مقطع دبستان تحصیل می کند و به درس خواندن علاقه دارد. او یک خواهر بزرگتر و یک برادر بزرگتر دبیرستانی دارد. پدر به دلیل بیماری ام اس کاملا از کار افتاده است. مادر ناشنوا و فاقد قدرت تکلم است و به علت نگهداری از همسر بیمارش قادر به کار کردن نیست. آنها به دلیل نداشتن مسکن در منزل پدربزرگ زندگی می کنند و برای تامین مخرج همه جانبه زندگی و تحصیل سه فرزند محصل در خانه نیاز مبرم به پشتیبانی مالی دارند.
